Privacy notice

How TechCycle Solutions handles personal information, under the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).

Who we are

TechCycle Solutions provides certified data sanitisation and IT asset disposal from 4 Connemara Black, Midstream, 1692, Gauteng, South Africa. For anything in this notice, contact us at info@techcyclesolutions.co.za or +27 63 285 8120.

We act in two different capacities, and the distinction matters:

  • As a responsible party for the information you give us directly — an enquiry, a quotation, an invoice.
  • As an operator for any personal information that happens to reside on equipment you hand to us for disposal. We process that information only to sanitise or destroy it, on your written instruction, under an operator agreement.

What we collect, and why

Invoicing and payment records Statutory accounting and tax obligations Five years, as required by South African tax law
Website usage data — pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location, device type To understand how the site is found and used, and to measure advertising Up to 14 months, and only if you accept cookies

Data on equipment we collect

Equipment handed to us may contain personal information belonging to your staff, customers or patients. We do not access, read, copy, extract or use that information for any purpose. Our only processing of it is its sanitisation or destruction, carried out to NIST SP 800-88 Rev. 1, recorded against the serial number of each device, and certified to you.

Equipment is logged on collection and held secured until processed. Responsibility for loss or damage passes to us at the point of collection. Where we remarket serviceable equipment, it leaves us only after sanitisation is complete and recorded.

Who we share information with

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for anyone else's marketing. We share it only with:

  • Downstream recycling partners, for non-recoverable material. No data-bearing media leaves us before it has been sanitised or destroyed.
  • Service providers who run our systems — website hosting, form handling and analytics. These providers may process data outside South Africa; where they do, we rely on their contractual data-protection commitments as required by section 72 of POPIA.
  • Authorities, where the law requires it.

Cookies and measurement

Nothing is stored on your device for analytics or advertising until you choose to accept it. If you accept, we use Google Analytics and Google Ads to understand how people find this site and whether our advertising works. If you decline, those cookies are not set, and the site works exactly the same.

If you decline, nothing is loaded from Google at all — not a cookie, not a request. You can change your choice at any time using the cookie preferences link in the footer of any page.

Your rights under POPIA

You may ask us to:

  • confirm what personal information we hold about you, and give you a copy;
  • correct or delete information that is inaccurate, irrelevant, excessive, out of date, or obtained unlawfully;
  • stop using your information for direct marketing;
  • object, on reasonable grounds, to our processing it.

Write to info@techcyclesolutions.co.za and we will respond within a reasonable period. If you are not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at complaints.IR@justice.gov.za, or through inforegulator.org.za.

Security

We keep equipment and records secured, limit access to those who need it, and process data-bearing media to a named international standard rather than an informal one. No safeguard is absolute, but our obligation under section 19 of POPIA is to take reasonable technical and organisational measures, and that is what we hold ourselves to.

Changes to this notice

If we change how we handle personal information, we will update this page and the date below.
